Steel castings exposed to severe abrasive wear in service can last longer if reinforced with hard alloys and wear resisting cast irons. Mechanical fasteners weaken the basic component, and under severe impact loads the reinforcements tend to crack and disintegrate. The authors investigated the conditions for welding inserts of alloy 300Kh28N2 to cast steel 110G13L. Copper was selected as the brazing material.
