PROBLEMS OF LOW GRADE OIL FIRING BOILERS AND THEIR SOLUTIONS.

As the quality of boiler oil fuels is expected to further deteriorate provisions are suggested which are indispensable for corrosion and clogging prevention in various parts of the boiler. Measures against high-temperature corrosion are proposed, including low access air combustion, dosage of special additives, application of anticorrosive coatings and water washing of the furnace interior. Results of these measures are discussed. It is shown that flue gas treating systems, such as electric precipitator, NOx removal system and desulfurizing system should be designed with full consideration given to the properties and effects of the flue gases generated by low grade fuel oils.
