INTERACTION BETWEEN RANDOM MEDIA AND AUTOMATA.

M. L. Tsetlin has discussed the behavior of a finite automaton placed in a medium with probabilistic responses (called a random medium), and his discussion has been continued by several researchers including the authors of this paper. A non-stationary medium is proposed as a medium with more complex behavior. The different discussions, however, are not systematic and treat the various cases by individual methods. This paper, on the other hand, proposes a kind of probabilistic automaton, which includes as special cases all media discussed hitherto, reveals that a systematic discussion of all the individual problems is possible, and gives examples of interaction between automata and a media with certain structures.
