Experimental study of wear resistance of mineral-polymer composites in hydroabrasive media

We determine the influence of the components of mineral-polymer composites and of the mechanical characteristics of a fluid with abrasive hard particles on the wear of these composites. Minimal wear of the materials takes place with average hard particle dimension 0.1 mm or less; with increase of the hard particle volume content in the fluid the wear of the composites increases. We develop a new mineral-polymer composite that makes it possible to double the service life of slurry pump elbows in comparison with the conventional outlets.
