Measures taken to reduce water hazards in mining are reviewed. The effects and consequences of groundwater subsidence are discussed, as well as slope stability hazards caused by subsidence and landslides, hazards resulting from frozen slopes, hazards of underwater mining, hazards resulting from induced seismicity, and the role of water in the triggering of rock bursts.
