A state-of-the-art report is given on the theory and practice of electron-beam welding, and trends in the development of world-wide research in the field of technology and equipment for this type of welding are considered. Promising lines of development of industrial application of electron-beam welding are discussed. It is found that technological possibilities of electron-beam welding continue to grow. The main difficulties in devising technology of single-pass electron-beam welding of thick steels are prevention of weld defects.
