Position Stability of Expanding Sealing Rings.

Studies carried out confirm the view that the position of expanding sealing rings is unstable if a formula proposed by the Society of Automotive Engineers (1965) is taken into account in the design of these rings. Bearing in mind the behavior of the ring position stability (in a range of sealing diameters up to 50 mm), it is deemed advisable to achieve a threefold increase in the value of the coefficient characterizing the ring design parameters.
