On the basis of an analysis of tests performed by other investigators on slender reinforced concrete frames it is shown how the well-known plastic hinge method in analogy with the design of slender steel frames must be supplemented in order to take account of the effect that the deformation of the members has upon the ultimate load (second-order theory). The agreement obtained between simple calculation and test result is quite adequate for practical purposes. It is not necessary to use a computer.
