The isomer shift of **5**7Fe in Fe//1// minus //xCr//x alloy is measured at room temperature in a concentration range of x equals 0. 028 to x equals 0. 967, and the data are discussed in terms of changes in the 4s-like and 3d-like electron configuration of Fe atoms and volume changes introduced by the solution of Cr atoms to the iron matrix.
