This work estimates an increase in the interstitial impurity diffusion coefficient in crystals under the action of shock waves. It is shown that the diffusion coefficient may increase due to two major effects. The first is associated with lattice deformation in the shock wave: a decrease of the jump length results in a considerable enhancement of the pre-exponential term in the diffusion coefficient. The second effect is determined by the heat pulse that accompanies the shock wave. The presence of the heat pulse may cause a noticeable increase of the solute atom energy at an interstice and decrease of the activation energy for diffusion.
