Actual Problems in Rock Mechanics.

Research program that is oriented toward practical needs of the metallic-ores mining industry should serve the establishment of rules for planning of stable and economic mining excavations. It is divided into following sections: strength of rock and rock masses; measurement of displacements, deformations, and stresses in situ; experimental investigation of physical models; analytic investigation and application of rock mechanical insights for determining the shape and stability of the underground excavations.
