摘要
This paper describes a new contact wire composed of a steel core and aluminum, which has been developed to replace contact wire made of hard-drawn copper or copper alloy used at present on Japanese National Railways. This contact wire has aluminum arranged outside and a steel core inside, its linear density being 0. 758 kg/m, which is about 24% less than that of copper 110 mm**2 contact wire (0. 988 kg/m).
