The article consists of two parts. Theoretical analyses of delay properties of wideband transmission lines are given in the first part. Evaluations and selection criteria of transmission lines for delay electrical signals in the subnanosecond range have been determined. Properties of a new type of delay line, called bifilar delay line, are discussed in the second part. A construction principle and performance manner of the bifilar delay line and results of experiments are included. Modern delay lines used for sampling oscilloscopes are considered.
