In Finland there are at the same time in service traditional mechanical hydraulic governors and modern digital governor systems. Because of higher demands for governing of water turbines there has been developed simulation program at Tampella Turbine Division in collaboration with Technical University of Tampere. The following describes water turbine governing in general and also describes governors of different types.
