Metallization of PVC.

As the pure PVC is not suitable for metallizing, in the reported study the samples were used which were composed of the polymer modified by addition of such fillers as calcium carbonate, talcum, kaolin and barium carbonate. The adhesive strength (adhesion) between metallic films and polymeric substrates was measured and results are tabulated, plotted in curves and discussed. Electron microscopic examination of interface layers was also conducted. It is shown that the best results were obtained with carbonates.
