Determination of Formaldehyde in Water-insoluble Amine Resins.

In the reported experimental study, the sulfite-iodine de Jong-de Jong method for the determination of formaldehyde in aqueous solutions of amine resins was modified and applied for the determination of formaldehyde in water-insoluble amine resins. The resin was dissolved in an organic solvent, e. g. tetrachloromethane or chloroform, and then the solution was titrated in the two-phase water-organic solvent system. The results were compared with other methods. The accuracy and the scope of application of the method was also given.
