Experience has shown that the lower limit of the Krylov-Bogolyubov enclosure theorem for eigenvalues is often rather sensitive to the character of the assumed approximation for the (first) eigenfunction. In this brief note the aforementioned sensitivity is demonstrated via a concrete example and a way for improving the accuracy of the lower (and upper) bounds to the first eigenvalue is indicated.
