Svenska Cellulosa AB (SCA) will pay Metsae-Serla Oyj of Finland for approximately $180 million for its corrugated box business. In a related development, Metsae-Serla agreed to buy Swedish rival Modo Paper AB for $1.49 billion from SCA and Holmen AB to become Europe's biggest maker of paper for photocopiers and catalogs. Buoyed by higher prices, paper makers are combining to boost market share rather than build new factories.
