An approach to counter the wear in crushers is reported. The first step in the analysis was to reveal wear by eliminating the crushing effects from complex phenomena. Then, by comparing the results of the analysis with field data on wear, an equation of wear rate was deduced as a function of the crushing pressure on liners. Using this equation, the wear in crushers was simulated and the best profile of the liner to give a uniform wear along its length was calculated. This longer life is confirmed by operational data.
