The present and future of low pressure sodium-vapor lamps are discussed. They are widely used outside the USSR and made of sodium vapor-resistant materials. Numerous studies of the physical properties occurring in the sodium-filled discharge tubes have been conducted. Similar efforts should be undertaken in the USSR.
