摘要
Work in program complexity and error analysis is related to the design of operating system structure. A directed graph can be used to portray operating system structure similar to its use for indicating program structure. The directed graph representation is used to study modularity in operating systems. Operating system structure complexity, as measured by cyclomatic number and module size, are factors which contribute to module coupling. Since both program design and operating system performance can be improved by reductions in module and system complexity, the authors choose complexity reduction as a design strategy and allow a module size consistent with satisfying performance objectives.
