The joint project between France and Germany to develop and launch a series of television direct broadcasting satellites started with development of the TVSAT1 and TDF1 satellites. These and the two that follow - TVSAT2 and TDF2 - are described that will provide high quality television signals, with simultaneous transmission on four chanels.
