Accurate assessment of transient and dynamic stability allows power systems to be operated closer to their stability limits. A new method for more accurately handling discontinuous nonlinearities such as limits by using dynamic matrices is presented. In addition, a technique to automatically optimize the integration algorithm for a given power system is proposed.
