The major causative factor of hydrogen embrittlement when using fluxed brazing alloys was the water of hydration in one of the flux constituents. Time at brazing temperature was found to strongly influence the depth of embrittlement, a longer time leading to a greater depth of embrittlement. Different brazing filler metals give varying depth of embrittlement. Bright dipping the copper and manually handling the brazing alloys do not significantly increase or decrease the amount of embrittlement.
