Developments Trends in the Design of Large Throughput Burners for Liquid and Gaseous Fuels.

Burner equipment for the combustion of liquid and gaseous fuels has today reached an advanced stage of technical development. The method of firing using low excess air both with fuel oil and with gas operation provides substantial advantages in permitting combustion which is favorable from the environmental point of view, while always keeping economic utilization of fuel as a primary consideration. At the present time it cannot yet be foreseen whether in the future even further increases in efficiency in relation to the burner unit will be possible and necessary. However on the basis of experimental and operating results it can be established that burner manufacturers are able to produce burners for 100 Million kcal/h (about 400 multiplied by 10**6 Btu).
