During the injection molding of plastics, it is important to control thermal phenomena in the press and the mold. The author first briefly reviews various phases of the production cycle, and then examines the thermal-control equipment used to maintain constant temperature in the mold by automatically heating or cooling a fluid. Several types of thermal control are discussed.
