Lockheed Aeronautical Systems Company researchers are developing plastics that not only can be used as structural materials, but also as intrinsic conductors of electricity. These new plastics may one day eliminate the need for metallic antennas and metallic sensing devices in aircraft, thereby reducing the cost and weight of jet fighters and commercial airliners.
