摘要
In low-carbon martensitic steel electron microscopic analysis has revealed neighboring parallel laths in four different combinations of orientation within a single zone of the martensite packet. Two types of combination cannot have long-range stress fields resulting from macrostrains during transformation. Layers of retained austenite are observed between the laths and packets after quenching, but not on the boundaries of the original austenite grains or on coherent twin boundaries.
