This review is devoted to electrostatic phenomena and adsorption at the oil-water interface and also to the electrochemical processes occurring on this interface. Of late this has become one of the most rapidly developing trends since the level of knowledge in this sphere does, among other things, determine advances made in the quest for more effective systems of transforming the energy of extraction processes, and also the progress made in studying biomembranes and a number of their medical applications.
