Thin-walled steel pipes, covered with polyethylene were tested for possible application in gas distribution systems. The tests carried out so far prove that thin-walled POLYSTAL-tubes covered with synthetic material present a satisfactory alternative to tubes with regular types and thicknesses of walls up to excess operating pressures of 4 bar. In this report the main results of these preliminary tests as well as the information gained by their experience with regard to the laying out of the trial conduit-pipes are published.
