Design techniques are described that permit the configuration of a 100-MHz counter oscillator that incorporates the random phase modulation needed to break coherence in time-interval-arraying systems. The design is cost-efficient as it uses a 10-MHz oscillator and few available commercial ICs. An electronic organ IC provides the random modulation. The phase-modulation and frequency multiplication circuits are discussed.
