In this paper some theorems have been established to estimate the asymptotic stability region using vector Liapunov function and scalar Liapunov function. The estimates need not be of a form nu less than nu //0, where sigma is a Liapunov function, and less conservative results than those in the form nu less than nu //0 can be obtained. An application of these results to the transient stability analysis of large-scale power systems is presented. The estimate concerning three-machine power systems and obtained by this method is larger than that obtained by M. A. Pai.
