This paper presents a statistical analysis of epsilon -separating nonlinear digital filters. Using epsilon as a parameter and white gaussian noise as an input, the mean and mean-square values of the output are derived. The nonlinear characteristics of the epsilon -filter are demonstrated, and the selection of a proper value for epsilon is discussed.
