Blow-through control has become the primary method for controlling drainage of condensate from paper machine dryers. Although it is not a recent idea, blow-through control was not possible until accurate projections of dryer condensing rates and syphon performance became a reality. A properly designed blow-through steam system as compared to the common differential system secures large increases in the control range of dryer steam pressures, reduction of steam consumption to the lowest possible rates, and substantial improvements in machine efficiency.
