Five criteria are given to evaluate whether CADD has a positive or negative impact on contractual procedures. An hourly contract, a cost-plus-fixed-fee contract, or reimbursement on an hourly basis simply recovers investment costs in the equipment while reducing the number of hours to be billed to a client. A shift from 'labor intensive' to 'value/results' mentality will allow design firms to get a profit from their CADD systems.
