The results fo the tests described showed that the web crushing criterion for the beams examined is underestimating the shear capacity at the lower degrees of shear reinforcement, probably because of the contribution to the shear resistance from the relatively large flanges. It is demonstrated that the z-stirrups used work fully satisfactory, even if no particular measure is taken to ensure the anchorage of the stirrups.
