摘要
Sump pumps, roof drains, leaders from roof gutters, open cleanout caps, drieway drains, and foundation drains are all examples of inflow sources. Inflow removal becomes more imperative when sewers overflow or discharge to a facility that is unable to handle peak flows. This paper discusses a program for detection and removal of both infiltration and inflow. Private source inflow detection starts with a smoke testing program for quick identification of both public and several private inflow sources, and is followed sequentially with: the questionnaire survey, sewer regulation adjustment, house inspection program, difficult access inspection program, private source inflow removal, follow-up gaging and removal verification house inspection, sewer use enforcement action, and finally, routine maintenance and monitoring.
