Damped trapezoidal integration program (DTIP) can be recommended as a compatible substitute to electromagnetic transient program (EMTP) for some power system time domain simulation applications. The property of evenness of autocorrelation is used to determine the delay time, which is a function of fault position, employing trapezoidal integration. Unlike EMTP, DTIP is simple, numerically stable for stiff system those with widely differing eigen values, and are self-starting in nature.
