A new method of direct processing of simple regrind on conventional injection molding machines makes it possible to manufacture a variety of products from thermoplastics/textile composites waste. As studies on synthetic leather scrap showed, the flow properties of the material can be improved by size reduction during reprocessing, and by raising its temperature. As a result, relatively thin-walled, comparatively complicated parts can be produced from waste material. Furthermore, the advantages of injection molding, like its especially large range of uses, and its flexibility with regard to different kinds of scrap (in quality and quantity), can be profitably utilized.
