An introduction, referring to the importance of the abdominal straight muscles in numerous vital functions, is followed by a short anatomo-physiological note on this muscular district. The results obtained with myoelectrical activity of the right and left abdominal straight muscles (upper part), during walking, are then reported for two of the five patients examined. The results obtained indicate how the right and left abdominal straight muscles show activity corresponding to each single step. Furthermore, this activity presents more intense levels during the phase of oscillation of the leg corresponding to the same side as the muscle. Irregularities can be observed within the same subject, due to the reaction of the muscles to stresses tending to modify the erect position of the trunk, as well as irregularities between one subject and another, attributable to differences in each subject's physical structure and way of walking.
