This article discusses new carbon-based molecualr sieves developed by Bergbau-Forschung GmbH for use in pressure change processes. The new sieves are successfully competing with the conventional zeolite molecualr sieves. Three areas of application that were already tested for these new sieves are described. These are: inert gas (nitrogen) recoverY from the air, production of oxygen-enriched gases from the air, and recovery of high-purity hydrogen.
