摘要：
An attempt is made to make a brief laboratory study of the microstructures on the welded zones as well as heat affected zones (HAZ) of a few arc butt welded specimens of mild steel. The changes in the metallographic features due to heat effect on the weldments having varying edge preparations are studied. An X-ray Radiographic study is also made on one of the samples. The ideas of Radiographic Sensitivity and Index of Visibility are also drawn from the present study.
