A new equation of state has been developed by a combination of modified expressions for the van der Waals equation of state and for the UNIFAC group-contribution method. The new equation is called the UNIWAALS equation of state. It is completely predictive and uses only the pure-component vapor pressures and the modified UNIFAC group-interaction parameters as input for VLE predictions. The UNIWAALS equation of state preserves the high-quality pedictions of modified UNIFAC at a low moderate pressures, and it gives excellent predictions at high pressures. It can be used for binary and multicomponent mixtures of substances which can be built from the available UNIFAC groups. The UNIWAALS equation of state compares favorably with the group-contribution equation of state (GC-EOS) based on density-dependent local composition concepts.
