Deep drawing experiments were carried out for tailor-welded blank square boxes. Single blank holders and segmental blank holders were used. Steps were made on the female die surface to make up for the thickness difference of the blanks. Elastic rubber method and rigid blank holders were used to apply blank holder force with different methods. Uniform blank holder force and local blnak holder force (non-uniform) were tried. The non-uniform deformation behavours and the movement of the weld seams, the wrinkling of the workpieces and the methods to control the non-uniform deformation were investigated by adjusting the die structures, the blank holding method and the blankholding force distribution.
