Recent situation of flux-cored wire for MAG welding

In recent years, flux-cored wires for gas shielded arc welding have remarkably increased in variety and extent of use in Japan. Now, the expanding demand for flux-cored wires is turning from ship building alone to such fields as car manufacturing, the construction of buildings and bridges, the machien industry and so on. In the near future, flux-cored wires will play the leading role in the technology of gas shielded arc welding. This paper introduces the current situation of research and development and the practical use of flux-cored wire for gas shielded arc welding of carbon and stainless steels.
