FIXATION OF CARBOXYLATED AND PHOSPHINATED REACTIVE DYES ON POLYAMIDE-FIBRE SUBSTRATES.

A study is reported of the fixation of some carboxylated and phosphonated reactive dyes on nylon 6. 6, nylon 6, and wool by thermofixation techniques in the presence of cynamide and dicyandiamide and by adsorption methods from an acidic dyebath in the absence of any carbodiimide. The results of the investigations show that dyeings of good wash-fastness are obtained on nylon by a thermofixation method and that dyeings of excellent alkali-resistance are achieved by absorption methods. The dyeings obtained on wool by either method exhibit only moderate resistance to alkali. The high alkali-fastness of the nylon dyeing indicates a covalent attachments of dye to the substrate under the deying conditions used.
