An analysis is made of factors influencing photographic sensitivity including light absorption, quantum yield of latent image formation (quantum yield of formation of free electrons, electron-trapping and recombination), and size of the smallest latent images. A review is also made of the attempts to increase photographic sensitivity on the basis of the above analysis.
