The algorithm for the calculation of gas formation is proposed allowing the strict evaluation of the yield of low-molecular products (CO2, H2O, CH4 and its homologues, H2) of decomposition of the coal organic mass (COM) during the coal metamorphism. The relationships for the degrees of conversion of COM and the atomic fractions of the elements are obtained using the index of reflection of vitrinite, Ro, as a metamorphism coordinate. On the base of these data the yields of the low-molecular products at coal metamorphism are determined.
