The author examines the theory of die lubricants in high-pressure diecasting, compares the application techniques which are available, and discusses the different types of lubricants which are used - hydrostatic and solid lubricants, and reactive compounds. The principles of key lubricant atomization methods are discussed and related to the probability of each system fulfilling plant production requirements. Refs.
