The effect of aging treatment at 150 degree C on the corrosion fatigue crack growth rate (da/dN) as a function of DELTA K was examined for 7075 alloy solution-treated, underaged, peakaged, overaged and as-received. The value of da/dN for solution-treated, underaged and overaged alloys is in the following order of environments: open circuit greater than cathodic charging greater than pure water greater than air greater than dry argon. In peakaged 7075 alloy, the crack growth rate under cathodic charging was greater than that in open circuit; this acceleration is explained by the influence of hydrogen embrittlement. The additional effect of stress corrosion cracking (SCC) on corrosion fatigue crack propagation is discussed on the basis of the value of K//I//S//C//C and hydrogen embrittlement types in 7000 series aluminum alloys in 3. 5% NaCl solutions.
